Who should apply?All students should apply for financial aid! At Purdue University Calumet about 55% of all students enrolled receive some form of financial assistance. How to applyCompleting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA is all it takes to apply for financial aid at Purdue University Calumet. The FAFSA is normally available by the end of December each year for the coming academic year. Keep in mind that there is a March 10th deadline for completing the FAFSA each year. Also, you will need to have the results sent to our school by entering our school code of 001827 on the form. If you need to submit the FAFSA to other schools, you can view a complete listing of School Codes available from the U.S. Department of Education. The FAFSA can be submitted several ways:
Remember...applying for financial aid is free and you must reapply for aid every year! When to applyApply as soon after January 1st for the upcoming academic year which begins with the Fall Semester in August. DO NOT sign, date, or send your application before January 1st! Applications postmarked on or before March 10th will receive priority consideration for all types of funds - Federal, State, and Institutional. Applications postmarked after the March 10th deadline will be considered only for Pell Grants, Federal Direct Stafford and Federal Direct PLUS loans. Your prior year's federal taxes and parent's taxes (for dependent students) are needed to complete the FAFSA. If this information is unavailable before March 10th, estimated tax information may be used and updated at a later date. Also, corrections can be made electronically to the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov for the school year! Once the results of your application are received, the Office of Financial Aid and Student Accounts at Purdue University Calumet will develop a "Financial Aid Package," combining funds from various sources to help you meet your financial need.
